November 24,2024 >It's a good idea to explain to your child that the internet has all sorts of content and that some of it isn't for children. You could explain that there are parental controls, safe browsing settings and internet filters set up on most devices to protect children from inappropriate content. Don't talk to strangers. ...Keep your passwords private. ...Follow your family rules. ...Tell your family or a guardian if anyone bullies you online. ...Ask your parent or guardian before filling in online forms. ...Only use websites that are made for your age! ...Don't stay online for too long! Never post or trade personal pictures. Never reveal personal information, such as address, phone number, or school name or location. Use only a screen name and don't share passwords (other than with parents). Never agree to get together in person with anyone met online without parent approval and/or supervision. Install parental controls on your home broadband and any internet-enabled devices to manage internet safety. Set up a user account for your child on the main device they use and make sure other accounts in the household are password-protected so that younger children can't access them by accident. Online Safety is being aware of the nature of the possible threats that you could encounter whilst engaging in activity through the Internet. These could be security threats, protecting and managing your personal data, online reputation management, and avoiding harmful or illegal content.
